Bill 101 at 40 / Les 40 ans de la loi 101

The Charter of the French Language, commonly known as Bill101, sought to ensure the primacy of French in Quebec's public institutions, in certain workplaces, and on commercial signs. What impact did this legislation have on Quebec's English-speaking minority? Jonathan Goldbloom, Julius Grey, Guy Lachapelle, Juan-Carlos Quintana, and Dorothy Williams will examine this question in a bilingual event moderated by Toula Drimonis. This event is free and open to the general public. There are limited spaces, and only registered guests can attend. The opening cocktail with refreshments and a cash bar starts at 5:30PM, and the moderated panel begins at 6:30PM. The event is organized by the Quebec English-speaking Communities Research Network (QUESCREN) at the Faculty of Arts and Science at Concordia University. A two-day French-language conference on the 40 years of Bill 101 will follow at the annual congress of the Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas).

Jonathan Goldbloom, Julius Grey, Guy Lachapelle, Juan-Carlos Quintana, et Dorothy Williams examineront cette question lors d'un évènement bilingue modéré par Toula Drimonis. Cet événement est gratuit et ouvert au public. Les places sont limitées et seuls les détenteurs de billets peuvent y accéder. Le cocktail d’ouverture avec bar payant et bouchées commence à 17h30 et les panels à 18h30. Cet événement est organisé par le Réseau de recherche des communautés québécoises d’expression anglaise (QUESCREN) à la Faculté des arts et sciences de l’Université Concordia. Un colloque de deux jours en français suivra au congrès annuel de l’Association francophone pour le savoir (Acfas).
